  1. **** ABOUT THE APS POWER TOOLS™ DISK ****

  3. Thank your for purchasing your new drive from APS Technologies.  This diskette contains the following files:

  5. • APS Power Tools 2.8
  6.  
  7. This is APS's Hard Drive Formatter/Diagnostic Utility.  It's purpose is to prepare drives (Fixed Disks, Syquest cartridges and Magneto-Optical drives) for use with your Macintosh™ and to analyze their performance and reliability.  More information will be found in the APS Macintosh User Manual which accompanied your drive.

  9. IMPORTANT:  APS Power Tools 2.8 fully supports SCSI Manager 4.3.

  11. APS Power Tools also supports the new Syquest/SCSIProbe Driver Compliance Standards.  It is strongly recommended that you review the information contained in the "About SCSIProbe 3.5" document located in the "Control Panels" folder on this disk for an overview of these new standards.

  15. This is a brief overview of the new features incorporated in APS Power Tools 2.8.  Please read this document before using the new features of APT.

  17. • Bootman™
  18.  
  19. This utility is primarily used to adjust the system heap size in Macintoshes running System 6.0.X.  If you are running System 6.0.x, and your hard drive doesn't mount, it may mean that your heap needs to be resized.  It is not necessary to adjust the heap in System 7.X.  Information concerning the use of Bootman is included within the application itself.

  21. • "Companion INIT 1.2" folder

This folder contains the Companion™ INIT/Extension and a DocMaker document entitled "Companion™ INIT READ ME!".  This INIT/Extension is exclusively for the use of PowerBook users who have an attached APS Companion™ portable drive.  It serves no function on other Macintosh models, and should not be used with them.

  25. • "Control Panels" folder

  27. This folder contains two Control Panels, SCSIProbe™ 3.5 and Power Tools Assistant™ 1.5.5, and two "Read Me" documents entitled "Read Me First!" and "About SCSIProbe 3.5".  Please review the information in these documents before using either of these Control Panels.
